This week's question -
What does compression therapy (like Normatec boots) do?
My answer -
Many of you know I am not a big fan of passive modalities - where you just sit there and let a machine do the work, however Normatec boots are one of my exceptions to this.
For those of you who don't know, Normatec boots are inflatable boots that go from toes to near hips and circulate compressed air to inflate and deflate different areas at different times.
Their effect includes improving blood circulation, reducing inflammation, and mobilizing stagnant fluid. Essentially, they help reduce pain and soreness more efficiently than active recovery strategies alone.
If you are feeling sore, it may be a sign you need a rest and active recovery day, but if you are an athlete, this may not be possible especially as we are getting to the end of some seasons. Normatec boots can help to speed up this recovery and get you back training again sooner.
