Strength Training

This week's question -

Do you think strength training will help me?

My answer -

Obviously there can be some exceptions to this answer, but in 95% of cases - yes. However this doesn't mean you are ready to jump into a strength training program right now. It is important that you are able to perform movements properly before adding weight or high repetitions to them.

Sometimes, there is some pre-work that needs to be done to get to a point where strength training is appropriate, but overall that is the goal with most of my patients.

Just like the journey of getting started on strength training may look different for different individuals, the type of strength training that should be the end goal can be different based on overall goals, current abilities, other activities, pain, movement patterns etc. This is why it is important to work with a professional to get you started, rather than just grabbing a program off the internet.
